Programma
Nationals symbols, ways of the "invention of tradition", flags, heraldic colours and shapes, real or imagined landscapes, political and religious representations, from the ancient world to the contemporary age, have always been images. From Warburg and Panofsky to Haskell, Zanker and Burke, we can discover the evidence and the hidden meaning of the images: reading art masterpieces or simple documents of daily life. Greek and roman sculpture; medieval armorials; Renaissance paintings; caricatures; photograpghies; films and TV documentaries. All imeges speak; but we must ask themthe right questions to get the right answers.
