Storia della critica d’arte : Gli argomenti trattati e le specifiche competenze che si intendono formare sono parte essenziale dei contenuti necessari al percorso formativo della laurea magistrale in storia dell’arte. Segnatamente, l’insegnamento fornisce conoscenze e strumenti metodologici utili alla comprensione della storia della critica d’arte dal secondo Ottocento agli sviluppi contemporanei, con approfondimenti su specifici casi o periodi ritenuti di particolare rilevanza.
History of Art Criticism : The topics considered and the specific skills aimed at developing are an essential part of the contents necessary to the educational path of the Master’s Degree in History of Art. Namely, this courses provides knowledge and comprehension skills concerning the history of art criticism from the latter 19th century to the contemporary developments, alongside an in-depth analysis of particularly significant specific cases or periods.

At the end of this course the student will have to be familiar with :
- the key steps in the development of the discipline from the latter 19th century to today
- the principal critical methodologies and their developments and connections with other disciplines
- the most influential art historians, their works and methodological contribution
- the relation between art history and museums
- history of art and art criticism
- current developments

Modalità di insegnamento
Lezioni della durata di 36 ore (6 cfu) + 12 ore di approfondimento seminariale, dedicato all'analisi dei testi di Baxandall, che si svolgono in aula con l’ausilio di proiezioni e materiale didattico, sono previsti incontri, letture e discussioni di testi.
36 hours of lectures (6 ECTs) in class with the help of projections and educational material; there will also be 12 hours of seminars revolving around the analysis of Baxandall's texts.

Modalità di verifica dell'apprendimento
Conoscenze e capacità previste saranno verificate attraverso un colloquio orale con domande. La preparazione sarà considerata adeguata (con votazione espressa in trentesimi) se lo studente dimostrerà capacità di esposizione e di argomentazione delle principali posizioni metodologiche; se in modo autonomo –senza cioè dipendere dalla presentazione dai offerta dai testi- saprà trattare la storia della disciplina, le principali metodologie critiche e le maggiori figure di storici dell’arte.
The knowledge and skills required will be assessed through an oral exam with questions. The competence will be deemed adequate (with marks expressed out of 30) if the student is be able to outline and argue the main methodological outlooks; if he/she is be able to consider the history of the discipline in an autonomous way – i.e. without relying solely on the description offered by books, together with the main critical methods and the most important art historians.
